Intro: Artistic Interpretation of Masterpiece

The purpose of precedent study in architecture is to have an understanding of what has been done before, and use that knowledge to help define and develop your own design concepts. Perhaps even more important is to understand and convey the ideas and concepts behind the work.

You are required to ANALYSE & UNDERSTAND the precedent study in terms of the following ‘criteria’:
a) The architect’s philosophy/ concept
b) Design elements (planes, solids, lines, axis, symmetry, hierarchy, datum, rhythm, repetition, transformation etc)
c) Context – relationship to the site and surroundings
d) Circulation (movement through space, approach, entrance, circulation elements, etc)
e) Zoning / spatial organisation (spatial relationships, interlocking spaces, hierarchy of space, etc)
g) Structural system
h) Enclosure system

• Besides that, you are required to produce a parameter model of this house showing appropriate details, with your personal input to showcase the important underlying principles of the house.
